Anyone read this today?

Not cool on the part of Hyundia / Kia.

"Hyundai and Kia overstated the estimated fuel economy on more than 900,000 U.S. vehicles sold over the past two years and will compensate owners for the faulty claims, the companies said today.

The mileage on most Hyundai and Kia labels will be reduced by one to two miles per gallon, with the largest adjustment being a six mpg highway reduction for the Kia Soul."

I could allow 2 to MPG to slide but 6 is getting up there. I have to wonder how many times this has actually happened but nothing said with other manufacturers in the past.

What do you think?

This is far from over.

People can now bring suits, in small claims courts, with the upper limits being as high as $25,000 in Tennessee. A number of States are at the $10,000 mark or higher. Anyone with $100, or less, can bring suit against a manufacturer without a lawyer. There is no jury and no appeal. They just need a sympathetic judge.

Here is a link to a lady that sued Honda, and won nearly $10,000, over the mileage on her 2006 hybrid: Click here.

If I was a Kia dealer I would take the bull by the horns and create pages in my website about fuel efficiency, how our sales team can assist you on any questions, create microsites, etc.

This could be a great opportunity to gain local business and notoriety for helping past Kia customers.

You could have the title: "Yes, We Got Caught In Another Lie!" Seriously, I don't think this has had enough press to bring people's attention to it. This is the first that I heard of it.

I don't think that most people expect to get the mileage on those stickers.

If you are a Kia or Hyundai dealer and have viewed the video message sent from the top, they are owning the problem. Of course I am not happy about the whole thing. They were not super specific on the errors made, but they are very clear that they are looking at long term trust as being their highest priority and working to compensate those shoppers who are affected.

I just spent several hours adding the required links to our sites and revising our research pages...
