New car inventory photos

Good morning,

We use DealerSocket for our online inventory on both new and used. Their mobile app allows you to take photos directly from your phone and upload them to the inventory which than populates our website and other feeds (cars.com, autotrader). It works out great. Before this at the other dealership I was at we used HomeNet and just a camera. I personally like our dealersocket option better.

I would encourage photo's of your new inventory. One, it shows a dealership is willing to take the time to capture all inventory (something I'm still trying to get caught up on since I have taken over at my current Dealer) and who honestly wants to look at stock photos? If I wanted to see that I would just go to the manufacturers website and skip the dealer's site.

@rl225 / Robin - wondering how you're progressing with getting your new cars photos onto your website?

How are you currently getting your used car photos onto your website? This is the first place I would start.

It's possible you're already using a service like HomeNet, however I see you're in Canada. I took notice that you're using CDK as your website provider. You may want to see what solutions they offer. I could point you in several directions here in the states but not sure about up North. We do have several members from Canada that jump in here from time to time - @Mitch Gallant @Ryan Thompson

I'm pretty sure CDK has an app that you can use. You are definitely making a smart move by capturing your new inventory!

@rl225 Cheers from SK.

We use homenet and have 3 people that manage a turn of about 250 new/month, (plus all the used).

Homenet plugs in with anyone and can feed all providers, save a few.

We've had 95%+ of our new vehicle inventory with photos online for the past 2 years. I'm not the sharpest knife so like everything I'm involved in it's just brute force and effort to get it done.

We're looking at processing images before upload, right now it's camera to homenet. I'd love to create a photoshop action to dial in the images and make it efficient but right now we just line em up, knock em down and park em back.

Our cleanup department is 100% on board with photos and helps make the process tighter than it otherwise has been in the past.
