Are Car Dealers Liars?

What is the purpose of this thread? To further spread the unwarranted public negative views of car dealerships? What is the benefit of posting 10 negative news when there are also thousands of transactions every day that are honest and provide a service to the public?

I hope that those of you posting these news feel good about this and that the dealers take note of the company you work for and how you threat our customers (the dealers!).

Karol Zwolinski wasn’t thrilled when he got the recall notice that his Ford Focus RS needed to have its head gasket replaced, but at least Ford was taking care of the potential problem, even though Karol had experienced no trouble. Still, he only had until the end of May to take care of it, so on April 9 he took his Focus RS into Hawk Ford of Oak Lawn, Illinois. Based on a urge that he got after reading about a joyridden Mustang at another dealership, Karol put a dashcam in his car, just in case. That turned out to be a very good idea, as he found out when he reviewed the footage to find that his car had been turned into an unauthorized school for learning how to drive stick.

# Summary The thread debates whether car dealers or customers are the primary liars in automotive transactions, sparked by a Forbes article citing declining consumer trust in dealerships. While some participants share personal experiences of being misled by dealers, others argue the "evil dealer" narrative is overblown and that many buyers are equally dishonest, with the industry's historical reputation for deception creating a cycle of mutual distrust that brings out poor behavior in both parties.
