BDC Manager/Internet Director Payplan inquiry

I probably will help with some desking, but not do it exclusively. The GSM typically likes to touch ALL new car deals. UCM and a secondary desk guy work used. They all (bdc, cradle peeps) will report to me as far as leads, appts, deals, missed deals and training. Desking will probably continue as listed above unless we are swamped. I guess I am trying to get an idea of what type of payplan I should work for. I know I will have some involvement in designing it. 100% salary is out. I'm not into that. I have been torn between a % of dept gross (front, back, holdback) and unit bonuses or a flat amount per car ($75/car up to 49, $100/car 50+ units). This is a huge deal as this dept will be my baby and I will determine it's success.

✨ AI Highlights

A BDC/Internet Manager seeks compensation structure advice for overseeing a hybrid department with both cradle-to-grave internet salespeople and appointment-setting BDC reps at a single dealership. The discussion emphasizes that pay plans should align with the unique dual-role structure and specific metrics (call-to-appointment ratio for BDC, lead-to-sale for overall effort), and highlights the manager's strategic advantage in controlling the full sales funnel from digital lead to close. The original poster ultimately narrows consideration to three options: percentage of departmental gross profit, unit bonuses, or a tiered per-car flat fee ($75-$100 depending on volume).
