Tesla Trade Ins

Cool info. Thanks for sharing. How have your customers' post sale experiences been? Do they say Tesla takes care of them well?
We do a very good job with reconditioning up front but in our area we have good Tesla technicians and the Kansas City service center does a good job.

Yes you do here stories of poor manufacturing problems but they are the fastest growing car company and people love telling the negative stories about successful companies. We have not seen any problems but there are thousands of Tesla's being sold and we are just a small fish in this pond. Tesla stock is one of the most shorted stock on the market so there are plenty of negative articles out there.

When we had a drive motor problem Tesla came and picked up the vehicle and left us a loaner to use. This happened within 48 hours of our call. If we need a recall done with a (any product) it may take a month to get scheduled into service and no one is coming picking up the car and leaving us any loaners.

So far we have good success with us and our customers.

# Summary Dealers discuss the risks and opportunities of accepting Tesla trade-ins and selling used Teslas, with concerns centering on service center delays, quality control issues, and Tesla's control over used vehicle pricing through their CPO program. While one successful independent dealer reports profitably retailing 3-5 used Teslas monthly with the right expertise and local service support, others highlight manufacturing defects, volatile wholesale pricing ($5-10k swings), and Tesla's dominance in pricing decisions as significant challenges. The consensus suggests that success with used Teslas requires specialized knowledge, strong local service relationships, and careful inventory management, but the market remains risky due to Tesla's quality control and pricing control.
