For used cars, we use Car Key Express, they are MUCH cheaper than finding an OEM replacement for most models.

We also currently use Car Keys Express. We had someone reach out to us about doing them in-house, so I thought I'd ask.

Hey everyone, What do dealers do when they end up acquiring a box of used keys and remotes? This seems to be very common and my company is always looking to buy these items. Where do they go -- do they end up getting thrown away? -Tony

Basically just where you can cut and program keys for the majority of manufacturer's at your dealership instead of having to use an outside source like Car Keys Express.

dealerkeysolutions.com sells the keys, key cutter, and fobs.
We use the Gymkana 994 key machine. Does 98% of our keys and is easy to use and program fobs.
Lowered our expense by about $1700 a month from car key express.
The learning curve for the process change in parts was a challenge. 18 months in and I am glad we added it.

Nice. Ironically, we use Car Keys Express and the company trying to sell me their service is Dealer Key Solutions. Ha.
