I have been driving myself crazy looking for a video solution that focuses on communication. As it stands, the easiest way to get an introduction to sales, service, etc, video to a customer is still very cumbersome. Assuming I am doing this without a 3rd party solution, I first have to record the video, I then have to download the video to my PC, edit the video, upload it into a streaming service provider, and email a link or embedded player to my customer.
It may not seem like a lot of work, but depending on the amount of incoming leads, the workload currently being placed on the BDC, and the amount of video content that should ideally be going out to the consumer, this process is keeping most dealers from using video at all.
Aren't there 3rd party solutions? Of course. But no one has developed a complete solution to simplify video production that should be able to start and end in the BDC.
Please tell me if I'm totally off base here, but this is the way I think it should go. Lead comes in. BDC agent reviews the lead and begins composing a response. BDC agent thanks them for contacting the dealership and instructs them to check out the video below. They then hit the record button that's next to "insert image" and record a video for the customer on the spot. After recording is complete, the video is automatically uploaded into an area of the CRM (similar to vehicle photos), where the dealer could manage the content. While all this is happening, the BDC agent finishes their email and hits send. The email software would send the outgoing email to a pending folder where it would wait for the encoding to complete and then it would be sent. Anything that requires more effort than that is not going to get done by an hourly employee unless there's nothing else to do.
So there you go CRM vendors. I am not a developer and I don't have the time or money to do this myself or I would. I would be willing to pay for a service like this, and I think most other dealers would as well. What dealers aren't going to pay for is something that makes one task easier or flashier, while making several others more difficult.
