My General Manager wants to get some touch screen kiosks to use for our sales people to more effectively and professionally log our customers into our CRM.

Few questions:

1. What are TVs/Kiosks like this called?

2. On what sites are they most affordable?

3. Is anyone doing this, is it effective?

Thanks,

What CRM are you using? many modern CRMs have a "kiosk mode" that you could use for this purpose. I would actually ask the company about the best uses for their product.

Almost certainly it will be a regular computer running windows xp/2000 that is just locked down with group policy to disable stuff like the taskbar, ctl+alt+del, etc.

Specialty ones will cost an arm and a leg. Were you looking to get something prebuilt or make one yourself?

1) Kiosk is the professional name for this type of interface.

2) None. They're all overpriced. It'll be up to you to get quotes as no one actually shows pricing on their website as far as I found.

3) I personally don't have any set up because a while back we decided to just give each salesman their own computer. I am looking to putting kiosk systems in the service waiting area though, just never did extensive research to recommend anything.

We use iMagic who has a kiosk, asked them, didn't seem to really have any recommendations.

We can build our own yes and will protect from browsing.

Bobby,

The IML Kiosk is really good if you get the optical scanner. Many dealers have the old scanners which suck! The new opitcal one works awesome. You really don't need to spend the money on a touch screen kiosk. The scanner will populate most of the info for you. I can load a customer in IML in about 15 seconds with a scanner.

You are using kiosk.dealercrm.com correct?

We set up a kiosk in the Service area to ensure the sales people had a reason to introduce the consumer to Service.

It is a touch screen from the kiosk store and works well for us. Our software is custom and provides a list of customers who recently purchased that have not had an appointment set. The customer chooses a date and time and our scheduling center is notified via email to contact the customer prior to their appointment and confirm the time chosen typically three months in advance.

just visited their site, http://www.thekioskstore.com/ and it is offline. So I am not sure if they are around any longer. The unit was very well priced and is durable.

Bobby - you saw ours while you were here. We just have a PC, monitor, mouse, keyboard, and the scanner Jerry is talking about. Most interactions in IML kiosk mode are through the keyboard, and typing is usually a pain on touch screens.

What is the IML Kiosk? Is there a website? Thank you in advance!

Bobby we have a number of dealers that use the Kiosk mode. Many of them have a basic PC setup near the keybox, reception desk, or the tower. They optical scanner makes things much easier as others have said. In our system the salesperson clicks on his picture and is prompted to scan the DL or input the customer information that customer then becomes his or her lead. That is it very simple and I am sure very similar to the way that IML works as well. Sales people can also print out their task list each day from the Kiosk as well. Alex said it best, the idea behind kiosk mode is to simplify and expedite the customer entry process.
