Is Google copying Bing?

I was playing around on Google today and I have instant search on but I noticed when I clicked near the link and not on the actual link it pulled up a preview of the webpage. Kind of like Bing does. Has instant search always done this or did Google just add this? Click anywhere except the actual link and it will display the preview for any of the search results except for the sponsored links. It tries to pull up the google map link as well but it keeps saying the preview is not available.

I've been looking at a bunch of different websites with this new gadget and I hope that customers don't use this to determine whether they will visit a site or not. Alot of blogs are really skewed. It looks like most of the widgets aren't showing up at all. The flash images / videos are being blocked from other sites in the previews as well.
