Hello everyone,

I have recently become the Internet Sales Manger at our store. We are a rather small store (100 new and 100 pre-owned). I have been handling the internet side of things for the past year or so (all leads, photos, editing the website) along with selling cars traditionally. I have finally convinced our GM I need to focus on just the internet and work with someone else to distribute the leads to. I get to build the internet department from the ground up!

We are currently with Cobalt for our website but, we will be going live with dealer.com on December 5th. We use Autotrader, Cars.com, and carsforsale.com for third party companies. I have had fair success with internet sales up until now and I plan to make our Internet Department grow exponentially!

I signed up here yesterday and look forward to any advise I can get and learning from all of you!

Paul,

Welcome aboard. I wouldn't consider you a small store if those are your monthly sales figures.

 I wish!!

That is what we keep in stock for inventory. We average around 50-60 cars per month this time of year and around 90-100 in the summer time. We are a resort town in northern Michigan that turns into a ghost town in the winter. We only have 5 sales people on staff but I hope by this time next year to have 3-4 people in the internet deaprtment.

Sounds like our positions have a lot in common. I just started as the ISM last April and our stores seem to be about the same size.

My advice would be to not get the idea that you are no longer a salesperson. The tech and marketing sides are a lot of fun but you have to sell the leads that come in. Even though you are not directly selling the leads anymore, the level of involvement with the salespeople and customers will make it seem like you are.

Good Luck!!! Hopefully we can share some success stories!
