In a surprise reversal, the Gigafactory's head of security at the time, Sean Gouthro, has now also turned into a whistleblower. He claims that Tesla security "behaved unethically in its zeal to nail" Tripp. Among other things, he claims that Tesla investigators hacked into Tripp's phone, had him followed and misled police. Further, Gouthro says that Tripp didn't sabotage Tesla or hack anything and that Elon Musk knew all of this, but still tried to damage his reputation.

Gouthro, who wasn’t in the interrogation room, says at one point he saw a colleague reading the text messages and emails that Tripp was sending during breaks in the questioning. He says that somehow Tesla was able to access Tripp’s communications in real time.

The accusation here is pretty huge. They were "interrogating" him and they would take a break, but while on break they would be watching every message he sent to people, talking about his current situation and interrogation.

I'll play the devil's advocate here - most of the reduction in production is from the drop in Model S/X sales. The Model S is a little long in the tooth; most of the buyers in that segment are holding out for the interior refresh to match the 3. They haven't disclosed the Model 3 orders they have in the US/globally but I imagine they're pretty strong. I see the Model 3 everywhere - and I want one. Just can't afford it!

The real reality check is when Elon realizes he can't compete with the US dealer franchise model when production surpasses 1m+ vehicles/yr. Complaining about a "logistical" nightmare for deliveries, lackluster service, and running a Ponzi scheme to finance the production of your vehicles is easily solved by franchising.

Elon - 'whoopsie'!

Ghosn is getting severely screwed in the name of Japanese nationalism - it was definitely a coup. He was scheduled to be intereviewed by Maria Bartiromo from Fox Business at 10P when the Japanese Ghestapo showed up and hauled him off minutes before the interview. Bartiromo speculated that the japanese have Ghosn's wife's phone tapped as that was her manner of contact as his phone is government issued...Japan is looking like a mini China in this mess...

I think the batoning of hatches is accelerating worldwide...
