Grant,

Dealers are starting to grumble and they feel that you’re training prices are unfair. They feel that you’re living life too large as depicted in this recent video: Grant Life of Luxury

Dealers want transparency. They want to know the true cost of your training products. So I’ve decided to launch a company, I am going to call it TrueTraining. We’re going to need access to your financial records so that we can show dealers the spectrum of prices and what they can expect to pay for Cardone training. It’s going to look like this:

This will be a good opportunity for you since we will provide you with a healthy stream of leads as dealers search www.truetraining com for training deals. We have secured 200 million in venture capital that will be used in advertising to supersede any advertising you are currently doing on your own. We will provide you the leads for free and you’ll only pay us for the leads that you close. At month end we will invoice you $299 per sale on new car franchises, and only $399 for used car franchises. In order to get started on the program, we’re going to need an FTP log in to your financial records. We will only be searching your financial records for closed sales and sales transaction data as to power the pricing model above. We will give you a week to close each lead. After said period, we will openly sell leads to third party lead generators. We feel this will keep you motivated and on top of your game.

How’s this sound Grant?

Have you watched this video: The TrueCar Business Plan

Scott Painter is going to destroy the automotive industry. Sure they are a small fish right now, but they won’t be for long if they continue on the path they are blazing. We witnessed a wave of advertising over Thanksgiving and I suspect another wave is coming over the Christmas Holiday.

I witnessed your message on facebook asking your followers to chime in on the TrueCar controversy. The bulk of the responses came from salespeople who said “superior selling skills would overcome TrueCar.” Brother you got them drinking the Kool-Aid, trained your loyal followers well you have! Myself, and a few others chimed in on your facebook page, but I concluded this to be a serious waste of time and made mention of this as seen below:

You are by far the most successful trainer in our Industry, there’s no doubt about that. You have amassed great wealth doing what you do. Dealers have rewarded you for your hard work and great training products. So what I find hard to understand is why you would make this video: Grant TrueCar Statement

TrueCar is not a friend of the dealer! The TrueCar tsunami is going to swell and if dealers don’t take notice now, it’s going to become unstoppable. Give me one good reason for TrueCar Grant? Why do dealers need a middleman charging them $299-$399 to sell vehicles to customers? Dealers have grown dependent on third party leads like a crack addict becomes addicted to crack. It’s time to kick the third party lead habit! They are junk as I have indicated here: Third Party Junk

Dealers need to promote their brand, and develop their own leads. They need the trainers of the world to help their salespeople and managers better maximize the opportunities at hand.

Dealers need advice right now just like Steve Jobs needed advice. After being diagnosed with the cancer, Jobs sought alternative therapies including spiritual healing. Against the advice of many, he continued on until eventually realizing he had made a mistake. When asked why, he replied “if you ignore something you don't want to exist, you can have magical thinking."

Grant you can attempt to put a positive spin on this all you want, but what if you’re wrong? What if TrueCar grows into an unstoppable force and there’s no turning back. It is a Cancer and it will consume the dealer body.

You command a large audience and they look to you for advice. When the dust settles, the dealer body will remember those who came to their aid in time of need. That time is now Grant and I implore you to weigh all the facts before making a final stand. It’s not too late to change your position. You’re either with the Allied Forces or with the Axis of Evil, there’s no Switzerland for you.

I will also point out that there was a posting on ADM as to why you are not willing to speak negatively about TrueCar. I am willing to give you the benefit of doubt and say this is not the case. Would you like to comment on this? Is there a potential conflict of interest here?

One last question, where’s the real Grant and what have you done with him?

Nothing personal, just trying to change your mindset as you would change the mindset of a customer debating a purchase.

Exactly, Jeff. Why would any vendor support another vendor attacking their market? Dealers need support from their vendors, especially those who train staff. I think Grant is just wrong-headed on this one. Happens to all successful people--they have an "Emperor's New Clothes" moment when someone points out things weren't what they thought they were when the left the castle this morning. Hopefully, the Turnaround King will do a turnaround on this support of TrueCar as the dealer's "friend". As I've put it before, that "friend" in TrueCar will get dealers' backs better than any knife they've ever had . . .

He responded on DE. Here's what he had to say:

He totally does not get my brand of humor since he basically addressed my comments about living life large and his pricing. That was a parody on TrueCar in hopes of getting him to take a deeper dive on TrueCar. I guess people absorb what they want to absorb and skip over the rest since he did not make mention of the TrueCar issue. The issue was not about Grant living life large of how much he charges for his products. The issue is, how would Grant like it if a TrueCar type company was dictating what he should sell his services for and then promoting that to car dealers?

I am not going to speculate as to why he's not commented here, that's up to him to address. I think it's great that Grant has done so well for himself, he's worked hard to get where he is and he deserves everything that he has achieved in life. I just think he needs to remember that dealers were good to him. In these times of TrueCar, I do believe that he should be aligned with dealers on this issue. I have not met one dealer who approves of TrueCar. The ones that do use TrueCar would love to get off the program and hopefully they will. Grant supporting that message would certainly help.

My tweet to Grant Cardone@VelocitySales, Is @grantcardone c'n the picture. Not all is fixed w motivational speaking. A real opportunity 2b a real leader is lost IMO. It saddens me aftr years of support 4 Grant http://t.co/UWHHpCPp*It's sad to see someone with such power and influence in our industry to not speak up and use this power. Don't get wrong, he might have a lot riding on drawing a line in the sand with this one but If he's a dealer guy, he would draw the line. Time to make use of this social empire he has built over the last few years.

At least Grant is consistant. He treated your objection as a complaint and went for the "lets do it anyway" close. He didn't address the issue at all. This is basically what he teaches in alot of his closes.
I personally love his work. I have over $2000 of his audio books when I could have downloaded them for free. I did this because I support hard work of others. I wish he would give you the respect that you deserve and address the issue. It's hard to see someone Ive looked up to act like this, but I guess you can't blame Grant for being Grant. It's all he knows and it's worked for him.
Oh well. I lost a little love for him, but I wouldn't say I'm mad.
